Assault retrial begins for ex-Miramar city commissioner- A fresh set of jurors heard opening arguments Tuesday in the aggravated-assault trial of former Miramar City Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman. This is Salesman’s second trial stemming from an incident in which he pulled out a gun in a Winn-Dixie supermarket in 2007. Salesman said he drew the weapon after he was confronted by two teenage boys. The first trial ended in a mistrial in March after a juror brought a dictionary into the deliberation room.

Miramar’s new Ansin Family Art Gallery features Picasso, Luna- The Ansin family, owners of much city property west of Douglas Road years before Miramar incorporated in 1955, donated $1 million to arts development in Miramar and naming rights for the gallery.
